Friday was a "no homework" day for the boys at school. I asked them what they wanted to do, they all said they wanted to take their journals to the zoo and draw. So we spent a gorgeous day at the zoo drawing. In this post you see some of my sketches.
These sketches were all just a few minutes - with 3 boys to watch over, encourage, and help there isn't time for much form or shading.
It sounds like a fun day. I love the fluid lines in your sketches.

nice simple lines :) don't always need shading to tell what it is. well done on them all, but i really like the curved lines to the flamingos

Being out in public with the boys sketching is forcing me to develop new skills. Basically, I can look at the subject memorize the shape of line and then put it down. I usually get 3 or 4 lines down and then the subject moves or one of the boys needs me. It's good practice to try and develop my memory skills. Thanks for the encouragement! (I also know that I don't have time to fuss with adjusting lines, so I just put each one down confidently and leave it there. I think the confidence you have when you make the mark has a huge impact on the quality of the line.)
